Studies indicate that the renovation work you do now can create significant lead-dust hazards if the lead based paint is disturbed. The lead dust generated by the work can cause lead poisoning in anyone, but most susceptible are children, pregnant women, workers and pets.

For this reason the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established the RRP rule. RRP stands for Renovation, Repair and Painting. The RRP final rule (40 CFR 745) requires that renovations conducted for compensation, must be performed by a certified firm using Certified Renovators. -- More
